This is a purposal for a residential tree house project in rural France. The tree houses will provide shelter to the travelers visiting the ruins of Château de Vibrac. With the intention of promoting experiences immersed in the quintessence of rural France, the tree house modules are designed to pay homage to the majestically gothic spires and bring its ruins back to life. The modules provide refuge for visitors and strive to find an experiential balance between human and nature.
The design allows the frame to be customizable under weather or site conditions. Individual framed screens can be removed or clicked on to the wooden framework. The screen panels are able to react to wind and human touch and provide different levels of transparency. Steel columns suspend both modules above ground, minimizing footprint on the existing landscape. Modules are structurally self supporting, allowing the module to develop an intimate yet respectful relationship with the trees.
